On Turning 35

Leading up to my 35th birthday, I will freely admit, I was having trouble. Thirty didn’t bother me. But for some reason, now being halfway through my 30’s was feeling a little daunting. But, as the day is here, I thought it would be fun to list (in no particular order) 35 things I love about my life!!

  • Growing up with great influences and always feeling totally loved and cared for
  • Laughter, especially until it hurts my tummy
  • Discovering the power of the written word
  • Being encouraged to write and express myself
  • Acting
  • Being the Stage Manager (character) in Our Town
  • Getting to play Beatrice in Much Ado About Nothing
  • Reading and getting lost in another world
  • Cameron being born on my 12th birthday
  • Watching my siblings grow into people that I’m proud to be related to
  • My mom
  • All the memories of my dad
  • Never being treated by a step-kid by either my stepmom or stepdad
  • Having a dog – it’s always fun to come home to someone who loves you unconditionally
  • Meeting Tim
  • Getting engaged
  • Getting married
  • Travel
  • Going to Ireland
  • The power of friendships
  • Discovering the power in a good group of girlfriends
  • Getting to see amazing theatre live
  • Growing up in a small town where I never felt unsafe
  • Watching summer change to fall
  • The first snowfall (and only the first. HA!)
  • The smell of rain through open windows
  • Shakespeare
  • Learning to enjoy the moment
  • Faith
  • My church family
  • Being accepted for who I am
  • Learning to embrace uncertainty
  • Feeling comfortable in my own skin
  • Great music
  • Having one day a year where I feel overwhelmingly loved. Thanks for all the birthday wishes 🙂
